BELLBROOK, Ohio (AP) -- Eleven horses were killed in a fire that destroyed a barn and heavily damaged a house today near the southwest Ohio town of Bellbrook.

Roger Norris runs a business, not a charity, but it's hard to be unsympathetic when a desperate horse owner is on the phone. Norris, who boards horses and runs trail rides, has taken in four horses in the past two months. Recently a woman wanted to give him all five of her horses, including two thoroughbreds.
